FellowshipThis was something I had been dying to do for a while and was pretty exhaustively researched. I hope to follow it up with hero group shots of The Two Towers and The Return of the King as well.

GilGaladI did this piece as a birthday gift for my wife, who wanted a portrait of herself in Gil Galad's armor from the Fellowship of the Ring prologue sequence. You probably don't remember it because the character appeared onscreen for all of about 2 seconds.

SD CemberA fun version of Cember I drew originally as a Thank You card image. The alien characters of Runners seem to lend themselves pretty well to the Super-Deformed style. |
TMNT mailI did this image as a mail header for the Tales of TMNT letters page. |
Xmas MechThis card was used for Cyberlore's Christmas card, back when the game company was developing a series of MechWarrior titles. |

AbominationConcept art done for one of Cyberlore's fantasy game projects. Every now and then I have to do a little something to entertain myself. With this one, I added a tiny sprout at the torso under the main mouth. He's smiling and waving. |
TreefolkConcept art done for one of Cyberlore's fantasy game projects. |
Undead RiderConcept art done for one of Cyberlore's fantasy game projects. |
EntConcept art done for one of Cyberlore's fantasy game projects. |
Ent CartoonI had been working on Ent concepts for a while at this point and needed a break, so this is what happened. Everyone at Cyberlore seemed to love the gag and the image actually made it into some promo material. |
GiantConcept art done for one of Cyberlore's fantasy game projects. I love the idea of a giant wearing a dragon pelt the way a regular person might wear some other animal pelt. The "Ayyy" thumbs-up pose was just something I did to make him look dorky. |
HauntedConcept art done to show potential character types for a haunted mansion game proposal. |
HumorRandom concepts scribbled down during several projects' concept phases, all of them fairly ridiculous-looking. My favorite is the dragon wizard for no other reason than he's wearing a POISON T-shirt. Needless to say, he didn't make it into any game. |
Mob 01Concept art done for a Cyberlore casino/mob game proposal. The artists had free reign in the initial stage to explore different character styles, so that's what I was playing with here. |
Mob 02Concept art done for a Cyberlore casino/mob game proposal. |
Mob 03Concept art done for a Cyberlore casino/mob game proposal. Again, the artists had some leeway in exploring different character styles, so here I tried something completely new for me: a grotesque sort of caricature style, which could have made for a cool game look. |
Motley CrewConcept art done for one of Cyberlore's game projects. A really interesting concept where you could draw army units from across infinite dimensional planes. Thus the eclectic grouping of characters. Sadly, this one never panned out. It would have been a game artist's dream. SPECIAL GEEK NOTE: One of the badges on the girl scout's sash is a Star Trek comm badge. |
BorgConcept art done for one of Cyberlore's game projects, a Star Trek Borg sim game. The challenge here was designing character units that would represent different classes of worker types. They had to look cohesive and true to the established Borg form, while being immediately discernable from each other at sprite game size. |
Jurassic PackConcept art done for one of Cyberlore's game projects. There's really no reason for all the characters to be smiling so weirdly, but I thought it would be funny. |
Mythical PackConcept art done for one of Cyberlore's game projects. Not really one of my favorite pieces, but I do like it for the take I did on the Medusa/Gorgon character. As far as I knew, the use of different snake types hadn't been done before. |
Historical PackConcept art done for one of Cyberlore's game projects. |
Warrior/PalaceConcept art done for two (unrelated) Cyberlore game projects. |
Waitress OutfitsConcept art done for a Cyberlore casino game proposal. |
Wizard SteedsConcept art done for one of Cyberlore's fantasy game projects. |
SimpsonsA very old drawing I did of the Simpsons cast as characters from Star Trek: The Next Generation. I think this may have actually been the first time I ever touched Photoshop, which I used to drop in the colors. |
